ICASA aims to contribute to a substantial decrease in the proportion of ADHD patients developing an addiction/substance use disorder (SUD) and to substantially improve the detection, diagnosis and treatment of patients having both ADHD and SUD.

Frieda Matthys, MD, PhD
Frieda Matthys, psychiatrist, head of department psychiatry UZ Brussel and professor psychiatry and medical psychology and behavioral medicine at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She completed her PhD on guidelines for the management of ADHD in adults with SUD. In addition to her clinical work in a private practice and in the Medico-Social Care Centre (MSOC) Free Clinic, she is past-president (2005-2015) of the Association for Alcohol and other Drug problems (VAD) and (2015-2017) of the Flemish Association for Psychiatry (VVP). Today she is president of the Belgian Information Drugs and Alcohol (iDA) and of the Flemish project of Quality in Mental Health (VIP²). Her research mainly concerns addiction and developmental disabilities.
