About ICASA
Mission Statement
ICASA aims to contribute to a substantial decrease in the proportion of ADHD patients developing an addiction/substance use disorder (SUD) and to substantially improve the detection, diagnosis and treatment of patients having both ADHD and SUD.
We want to achieve this by performing and coordinating high quality research in order to
determine the magnitude of the problem: how many ADHD patients develop SUD and how many treatment seeking SUD patients have ADHD?
increase knowledge about the factors that influence the course and development of SUD in ADHD patients
apply findings in the development of methods for prevention of SUD in ADHD patients
develop evidence based procedures for diagnoses and treatment of ADHD in SUD patients
Our strategies
ICASA strives to use its own network and the network of its participants in order to improve access to researchers, clinicians and patients for research
ICASA strives to increase both the quality and quantity of research related to this topic by using a consistent set of research instruments and by setting up databases for secondary analyses of research data
ICASA strives to exchange knowledge on the topic of 'ADHD and Substance Abuse' both within the ICASA network and in contacts with other colleagues
ICASA will publish its research findings in peer reviewed Journals and will present these results at (inter)national conferences
Structure
The ICASA organization consists of:
The board of 5 members
